A Lagos based Nigerian, Adepero Oluwadamilola, she's a good friend of mine, we both served together during my NYSC days, she once told me how bad she always feels whenever her month is near, "I think I would prefer to be a male in my next world" she says. In this article, before I jump into the main deal, permit me to use this little space of this post to congratulate all our beautiful ladies out there be it young or old, rich or poor, You are all special on this planet earth. May I also remind you that your monthly flow is not a mistake by our creator, it was designed for a purpose. Okay, enough of all this story, now that you know how unique and gracious you're, it's time Iet you know the Dos and Don'ts you should avoid if you really don't want to mess everything up during your period. On a good day, these things are okay but because it could harm or make you be in pain, why make it harder on yourself.

Women general are created with different body system, some may feel sensitive while others might not,  if you struggle a lot during your period, it might just be the right time you avoid these things altogether.

 Here are some of the things you should not do on your period.

1. AVIOD  A LOT OF COFFEE

Morning cup of coffee is good, but trust me if  this falls in your month,it might just be the time of to stop it, Caffeine can cause cramps, bloating and constricts blood vessels, these altogether can worsen women's menstrual cramps and bloating, as it constricts blood vessels, which can worsen menstrual cramps.

2. SAY NO TO CIGARETTES

According to research smokers are liable to die young.Say a big NO to smoking, apart from the hazardous side effect it has to your health, it can also make your period much worse. a woman that smokes during her monthly flow is likely to witness painful period than non-smokers.


3. AVOID SALTY FOOD

Snacks are lovely but  some of them are made with lots of salt. Here is the thing, salty snacks can actually make your period symptoms worse. In case you're not aware, salty food can also worsen women  cramps. Foods that contain salt contribute to the bloating/water retention that women feel around the time of their period. 


4. AVOID UNPROTECTED SEX

You might be tempted by your man  to have sex without condoms, trust me, it's a bad idea. Through Blood, viruses and other form of bugs can have their way into your body, the transmission of things like HIV, STD, and others can be higher during this time period. Furthermore, the cervix is slightly dilated when you have your period, which makes it easier for bugs to get from the vagina to the cervix and into the pelvis. In addition, I am not an expert in this field but I certainly believe that having unprotected sex during this time of the month is an avenue to contact all of the mentioned diseases above.

5. CHANGE YOUR PAD OR TAMPON WITHIN 4 HOURS


Sorry to say this, but here is the truth, some ladies can be careless when it comes to this. As a lady infuse the habit of changing your tampon/pad every 3 to 4 hours to avoid an unpleasant odor and bacterial buildup, failure to this may further lead to infection. Every beautiful lady out there reading this article should stick with this simple procedure to avoid people from body shaming you.

5. WORK OUT REGULARLY

Women should cultivate the habit of going for a workout instead of sitting or laying all the bed. Engaging in workout will not only make you better, but it will also stop cramps, energize you, and relieve you from painful menstrual pains.
